Billy Earl Ellis, of Vicksburg, MS, was called to his heavenly home surrounded by family on Sunday, February 27, 2022 at the age of 89. Billy was born on April 17, 1932 to James and Estelle Ellis in Ethel, MS. Billy was a faithful man who loved his family, friends, church, and most of all his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was an Army veteran having served as Sargent in Korea during the Korean Conflict. He was very involved in church ministry working in the jail ministry, Campers on Mission and singing. He loved his pets and fed most of the coons, squirrels and other cats in his neighborhood. He enjoyed his friends at McDonalds for their daily breakfast. He had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh and joke.
Billy is survived by his former wife, Bonnie Ellis and their children: Barbara Ellis Emerson (Don), Danny Earl Ellis (Kathy), Anne Ellis Huskey (Barney) and Jon Jackson Ellis as well as 6 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Beverly Ellis. He is also preceded in death by his brothers Elra Ellis, Louise Ellis, Marlon Elmo Ellis and Marzene Ellis.
A special thanks to his best friend Joe Wooley who stood by him through good times and bad and to the staff of St. Joseph Hospice for giving such wonderful care.
