Billy Cecil Pruden, Sr., age 80, of Tuscaloosa, Ala., passed away May 21, 2022 at Glen Haven Health and Rehab in Northport, Ala.
He was preceded in death by his parents, LG Pruden and Irma Pruden; sisters, Betty Webb, Nancy Faye Hemphill, and Patricia Malouf; brothers, Dewey O’neal and Fred David Carrol; and grandson, John-Eric Pruden.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy J. Pruden; daughters, Phyllis Steele (Charlie Steele), Teresa J. Turner (David R. Turner), Sonya McAteer (Rodney McAteer); sons, Bill Pruden Jr. (Angie Pruden); sisters, Martha Turner and Arlene Castleberry; brothers, Martin O’neal and Ray O’neal; grandchildren, Wes Turner, Keith Koon, Brittany Hardy, Blake Hannah, Justin Pruden, and Jocelyn Sprowl; and six great-grandchildren.
Billy was married to the love of his life for 63 years Peggy Pruden. He always had a passion for his music and enjoyed playing the piano. Over his lifetime he pastored Greenwood Baptist Church, New Haven Baptist Church, and Cornelius Chapel.
Billy enjoyed playing softball on teams with his son and many other friends. He loved hunting and fishing. He spent many years coaching numerous college age summer baseball teams. Including coaching football at Southern Academy in Greensboro, Ala.
Billy never met a stranger and could talk a blue streak, but most of all he enjoyed talking to everyone about his savior. Billy most of all loved God and his family.
