Billy Dale Berry, 70, of Kinston, North Carolina, passed away Monday January 30, 2017 at his home in Kinston. Born in Greenville, Mississippi to Bill and Bertha Berry he lived most of his life in Eastern North Carolina.
Bill is survived by his son, Michael Berry of Kinston, NC, and his sister Ann Bergerson of Norfolk. Bill was a loving son, brother, father, and a friend to all.
Bill enlisted in the Army on February 29, 1964 as a medical specialist. Bill was then sent to Vietnam where he was wounded rendering first aid while under heavy fire. For his actions, Bill was awarded the Purple Heart as well as the Bronze Star with “V” device for valor.
Bill enjoyed working with the State of North Carolina Dept of Transportation until the effects of Agent Orange that he was exposed to in Vietnam forced him to go on disability. He enjoyed watching Golf, Nascar, and keeping up with current events.
