Billie Ruth Conner, aged 87, of Caldwell, Idaho, passed away December 27, 2011 at Streamside Alzheimer’s Care Center with her daughter Jeri Poindexter at her side.
Billie was born on November 4, 1924 in Stillwell, Oklahoma. She had four siblings. Her parents were William P. Conner and Maye Elizabeth Hannah Conner. Billie attended high school in Glendale, Arizona and cosmetology school in Phoenix, Arizona. She worked as a telephone operator in Arizona during the 1940’s. Billie moved to California where she worked for the San Diego Water Department in the 1950’s. In 1959 she owned a laundramat in Saint Anthony, Idaho that she operated through the 1960’s. During this time Billie also managed the Hotel Idaho and Stardust Lounge in St. Anthony. In the late 1970’s and through the 1980’s Billie owned a cleaning business in Treasure Valley. She was a member of the Caldwell Eagles Club and a longtime resident of Caldwell, having moved there in 1969. She married Roger Nicholson Morgan in 1943, then John Coleman Poindexter in 1957.
Billie enjoyed nature and her favorite past times of hunting, fishing, and camping reflected. her great love of the outdoors. She was an avid rock hunter and collector. Her hobbies included crocheting and knitting. Billie also enjoyed bowling.
Billie is survived by her five children, son John William Morgan and wife Jane Morgan, daughter Nancy Morgan Johnson and husband Michael Johnson, daughter Megan Morgan Lustine and husband Burton Lustine, daughter Julie Poindexter and husband Reymundo Perez Reyes, daughter Jeri Poindexter and partner Shelly Hensen; her grandchildren, John Morgan and wife Erin, Michael Scott Johnson and wife Alison, Christopher Johnson, Stephanie Wahl-Taylor and husband Patrick, Camille Wahl, and Ciera Compton; her great-grandchildren, Morgan Donaldson, Joshua Morgan, Aaron Donaldson Morgan, Jared Donaldson Morgan, Andrew Morgan, Logan Johnson, Ethan Johnson, Ethan Wahl-Taylor, Sophie Wahl-Taylor, Fernando Daniel Wahl Gonzalez, Holden Wahl Khaira, and Atticus Wahl Khaira and her great-great-grandson Thayne Donaldson.
Billie was preceded in death by her sisters, Geraldine Conner (Hoopes), Opal Conner (Dosh) and Sylvia Conner (White) and brother Frank James Conner; her first husband Roger Nicholson Morgan; and her longtime companion Sherman Call.
The family would like to thank the staff at Streamside Alzheimer’s Care Center and also Todd Patrick for the love and support they gave to Billie and her family.
Billie’s playful sense of humor, her zest for life and her tremendous spirit will be truly missed.
