Mrs. Billie Rhea Swartz, age 86 of Birmingham, AL passed away on her birthday, July 13, 2016. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, and caring teacher. She taught first grade for over 40 years and touched the lives of hundreds of students. She was a member of Cahaba Springs Presbyterian. She was a graduate of Tennessee Tech and received her Masters from the University of Montevallo. She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Edwin J. Swartz, Sr., children, Edwin Swartz Jr. (Brenda deceased), Steve Swartz (Bea), Leslie Shultz (Scott), grandchildren, Michele (Kevin) Manning, Ted (Brittany) and Ben Swartz, Melissa (Dave) Jones, Scott (Chablis) and Joseph (Nicole) Shultz, great grandchildren, Emma Catherine, Maren, Claire, Grant, Marigold, Pierce, Aldyn, and Kyrie.
