King, Billie Lee
August 1, 1931 – November 26, 2010
Billie passed away peacefully and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was the daughter of Norman and Mary Virginia Dovey, both of Anderson, Indiana. She lost her mother when only a year old and later gained a loving stepmother, Gertie Dovey, who lives in Florida. Billie is also survived by her four children—Roger, David, Brenda, and Dean; four grandchildren—Logan, Lindsay, Cosette, and Victor; as well as an aunt, Ida Mae “Kibby” Johnson, half-sister Donna Stafford, and half-brother Ross Dovey.
Billie had a life of many interests and showed superb talent in all. When in her mid-forties she began canvas painting and though self-taught, achieved a remarkable level. She had a lifetime love and talent of music, learning the flute while in her forties and later the clarinet and saxophone. Billie lived in Los Angeles from 1978-2003 and during that time sang in “Sweet Adeline” choruses and quartets. She played in community orchestras, productions, and bands with great enthusiasm. Her children have all been inspired and affected by her desire to do things to the best of their ability. We thank you, Mother!
