CBillie Geneva Moore, age 87, of Fort Walton Beach, passed away on Friday, October 26, 2007.

She was born in Wilburton, OK, on August 14, 1920, and raised in Dallas, TX.

In Texas, she met and fell in love with a handsome young pilot named Lonnie Moore. They married in 1946 and had four children; Bob, Ray, Tina and Steve.

During those years, Major Moore had a very distinguished military career serving our country during WW II and the Korean War. He flew in many dangerous missions and became a double ace in the Korean Conflict.

After the war, Lonnie and Billie moved their family to Fort Walton Beach. In January of 1955, as a test pilot at Eglin AFB, Lonnie was killed in an unfortunate plane crash. With four children, Billie persevered and, in the early 1970’s, she began her career as a local businesswoman. She owned and operated the Kon Tiki Shop in the Fort Walton Square and Adam’s Rib Boutique in downtown Fort Walton Beach, the Santa Rosa Mall and in Destin.

Many will remember Billie as the “Feisty Little Red Head” with the great fashion sense and fun loving personality.

Billie retired in 2002 and lived her last four years at Wellington Assisted Living Facility. She made many dear friends including Marie Cunningham and Sue Grubbs.

Billie was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, husband and son, Lonnie Ray Moore, Jr.

Billie is survived by her son, Bob Moore, daughter-in-law Mary and granddaughters, Lori and Debbie of Cocoa; son, Steve Moore of Orlando; daughter, Tina Quigley, son-in-law Tim and granddaughters, Billie, Jana and Ava of Destin; granddaughter, Loni Moore of Texas, as well as six great-granddaughters.
