Billie Bob Mahler, October 3, 1926 – May 14, 2012.
Billie Bob Mahler Bob Mahler was born in Heidenheimer to Carl Fredrick and Iola Jones Mahler on October 3, 1926. He spent his entire life in Heidenheimer until his recent move to Belton, close to his farm. He died at his home Monday, May 14th at the age of 85.
He attended Heidenheimer Public Schools and graduated from Temple High School. He was a member of the class of ’47 at Texas A&M University where he was a member of the Corps of Cadets. He served in the occupation of Germany after WWII with the U.S. Army. He earned his degree in Agronomy in 1949 from Texas A&M. He worked for the Soil Conservation Service in Giddings, Caldwell, and Temple retiring as the State Auditor. He served on the Academy School Board, the Greathouse Cemetery Board, and the Heidenheimer Water Board. He was a member of Temple Bible Church. He married Suma Ann Bowles on October 12, 1957 in Temple.
He was a farmer and rancher in Heidenheimer and Belton. Bob was an avid outdoorsman and loved to watch his children and grandchildren participate in sports and agricultural projects. He cherished family unity above all and instilled that loyalty to all of his loved ones. He was preceeded in death by his parents and a brother, Fredrick Lamar Mahler.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, his daughter, Micki Su Greeson and husband Tommy of Belton, Michael Mahler and wife Angela of Moffat, Mark Mahler and wife Julie of Belton. Eight grandchildren, Grant Greeson and wife Carly of Temple, Lance Greeson of Belton, Wolf, Hallie and Rivers Mahler of Moffat, Caroline, Matt and Emily Mahler of Belton, a sister, Dorothy Cole of Temple, and a sister-in-law, Merle Mahler of Temple, along with several nieces and nephews.
