Mrs. Billie Davis, age 73, of Newnan passed away Sunday, January 22, 2017 at Piedmont Newnan Hospital surrounded by family. She was born on November 28, 1943 in Newnan, GA to the late Hugh Tarleton and Faye Hardegree Tarleton. Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Jimmie Hardegree and paternal grandparents, Will Tarleton and Carrie Byron Tarleton. She is survived by her loving husband; Charlie L. Davis; daughter, Cindy MacDougall and her husband Phil; grandson, Evan Pickelsimer; sisters, Martha Hendrix and her husband Melvin of Newnan, Betty Arrington and her husband Frank of Heard County, Ellen Harris of Atlanta and numerous nieces and nephews. “Mrs. Billie”, as she was known by her coworkers, patients, and student nurses, was a native of Coweta County. She was employed in the local health care systems for 46 years. She was a graduate of Newnan High School. She attended Young Harris College one year before going to Hall School of Nursing (Brenau School of Nursing) where she received her RN diploma. She received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Masters Degree in education from West Georgia College (University of West Georgia). After graduating from nursing school in 1965 she worked at Baldwin County Hospital before returning to Newnan. She worked at Newnan Hospital for 22 years before spending the next `4 years with different home care agencies. She was a clinical instructor part time for West Georgia College School of Nursing. Later she was one of the program and clinical instructors for West Central LPN program. Before retirement in 2009, she worked as an education instructor for patients and staff at Piedmont Newnan Hospital. After retiring completely she was a tutor for Northside Elementary School for two years, taught Sunday school, Vacation Bible School and served on different committees at Northside Baptist Church until her health decline.
