Bill Marakos, aged 84, passed away on, August 9, 2023, at his home in Toano, VA, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 3, 1939, in Koutsi, Nemea, Greece, the son of the late Haralambos Marakos and Martha (Hareme) Marakos. He was a proud veteran of the Greek Army and in 1967 he immigrating to the USA.\r\n\r\n Bills life was one of determination and love. After meeting and marrying his wife Nancy in Chicago, IL, they eventually moved to Iowa City, IA, and in 1986 they settled in Williamsburg, VA. Bill enjoyed a successful career in the restaurant business, including ownership and operation of two restaurants in Iowa, as well as a cook in several establishments, including with WJCC Schools.\r\n\r\n Bill was deeply devoted to the Greek Orthodox Church. His spiritual beliefs were a cornerstone of his life and provided him with guidance and strength.
