William James “Bill” Pool, 42, of Jacksonville, died Monday, March 26, 2018, at Passavant Area Hospital.
He was born April 22, 1975, in Kankakee, the son of James William and Barbara Ann Benoit Pool. He married Jennifer Renee White on July 20, 2002, in Springfield and she survives.
He is also survived by two sons and one daughter, Tyler James Pool, Jacob DeWayne Pool, and Emalee Ann Pool, all at home; his father of Bourbonnais; four sisters, Cheryl (David) Beckner and Kathy (Dean) Hutson, both of Bourbonnais, Debbie (Kirk) Redenius of Cadiz, KY, and Bonnie (Mike) Gross of Chebanse; and many other family members and friends who loved and cherished him. He was preceded in death by his mother.
Mr. Pool and his family were members of Church of Our Saviour. He was a physical education teacher at Jacksonville Middle School since 2014. He also coached 8th grade boys basketball and boys track. Prior to teaching at JMS, he taught elementary physical education in Waverly for fourteen years. While there, he coached 8th grade boys basketball for four years, varsity boys basketball for ten years, and junior high boys track for twelve years. Bill has impacted the lives of many young men and women throughout his teaching and coaching career.
In high school, Bill was a member of the back-to-back state Elite 8 appearance Bradley-Bourbonnais High School Boilermakers basketball squad. He is in the Bradley-Bourbonnais Hall of Fame for that team. He was also an avid Cubs fan. Cheering them on to victory in their 2016 World Series run was a big highlight for him. Bill also loved the Bulls, Bears, Dave Matthews, Kenney Chesney, and long walks on the beach…specifically Folly Beach, South Carolina, where he spent several vacations with his family.
