Edward (Bill) Otway, age 82, of San Antonio, passed away on Friday, October 1, 2021. A private ceremony was held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
On March 11, 1939, Bill was born in St. Louis, MO to Mildred and H. Edward Otway (since deceased). At the time, both were officers in the Salvation Army. Bill joined the United States Air Force straight out of high school in Fargo, ND and served for six years before returning to school, eventually graduating from the University of North Dakota. He was a Master Flight Instructor, an honor granted by the National Association of Flight Instructors, working with Flight Safety International far past the normal age of retirement.
Bill is survived by his daughter, Tammy Mercer; his brother, Thomas; and numerous other relatives. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Barnes Otway; his father, Henry Edward Otway; and his son, Timothy John Otway.
