William R. “Bill” Lask, 85, of Alamogordo passed away, Friday, April 2, 2010.
He was born June 24, 1924 in Grand Haven, MI to Roland and Anna (Lang) Lask. He grew up in Michigan and joined the U.S. Army Air Corp and served from 1943 to 1946. During World War II, he served in the Pacific Theater where he was a radio operator. He married Virginia O’Brien on May 28, 1949 in Kansas City, MO. They moved to Dumas, TX where he began his career in radio. He managed several stations in New Mexico until he purchased KINN in 1971. He later founded KZZX. He retired in 1995. He was a member of the Noon Lions and St. Jude Mission.
Survivors include his son, Robert E. Lask and wife Michelle of Alamogordo; three grandchildren, Miranda Lask, Kassidy Lask, both of Las Cruces and Dustin Lask of Alamogordo; one great granddaughter, Brelynn Marie Hamberg of Las Cruces; two brothers, Frank Lask and wife, Donna, of Black River, MI and John Lask of Alamogordo; two sisters, Shirley Showler of Grand Blanc, MI and Mary Jane Aumock of Unionville, MI and numerous nieces and nephews.
