Beverly Ruth Ashby Obert Sullivan was born on September 25, 1926 in Lakeland, FL to Stanley and Esther Ashby. She died on August 17, 2017 in Denver, CO. Beverly graduated from East High School in Madison, WI in 1944. She was one of the first people in her family to achieve a college degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, in 1948. In August of 1946, she married H. R. “Dude” Obert. They had three children, Laura, Stan and Jan. Due to Dude’s employment in the oil industry, the Obert family was constantly on the move. Bev and Dude were divorced in 1965. Bev moved to Colorado Springs, CO to be near her mother. Bev learned to ski at the age of 36. It became her life long passion. Bev was a long time member of the ski patrol and became one of the first women to be certified in avalanche rescue. Bev married Robert Sullivan in January 1971 and moved to Albuquerque, NM where Bob was residing. Bev worked for ten years for the New Mexico department of Social Welfare. She retired in 1990. Once she retired, she pursued her other great passion, travel.
