Beverly Ann (Busch) Nichols passed peacefully on Monday, September 19, 2016 at Wuesthoff Medical Center-Rockledge, FL. She was 73 years of age. She died of breathing complications after a routine surgery. She was born in Brooklyn, NY on December 22, 1942, after her mother was driven to the hospital from Long Island on a fire truck in blizzard conditions. She was preceded in death by her father, Gilbert E. Busch, her mother, Rita Fontaine Busch, and her sister, Barbara J. Shelley.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Thomas W. Nichols, her son, Christopher R. Nichols, daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Altman Nichols, granddaughter Zoe E. Nichols, and her nephew, Brian C. Shelley.
Beverly graduated Pascack Valley High School in Hillsdale, NJ and attended Florida Southern University and C.W. Post College. She was trained as a speech therapist and taught elementary students as well as disabled students.
She is remembered for her fantastic story telling and keen wit. She was an excellent and healthy cook who also had impeccable taste in decor and thoroughly enjoyed home decorating. Bev was a masterful entertainer. Family and friends sought her sage advice. She delighted in words and was a prestigious grammarian.
Bev was a dedicated military wife to her husband who was a career Air Force officer. She continued to support him for 20 more years in his career as a civilian aerospace engineer in Cape Canaveral launch operations. She adapted to the crazy schedules when there was a “bird on the pad.”
Bev came to Satellite Beach in 1971. She had sand in her shoes and rocket fuel in her veins. Bev never missed a launch.
