Beverly Alice Johnson Lathan was born on November 14, 1937 in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was the first child born to the late Herbert and Alice Johnson. She accepted Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized at an early age by her late grandfather, Rev.
In 1953, the family moved to San Diego, California, where she continued her education and graduated from San Diego High School.
In 1957, Beverly united in holy matrimony with Alonzo Lathan and this union was blessed with one son, Alonzo Lanell “Lonnie”. Beverly continued her education at San Diego City College where she received an Associate of Arts Degree in 1958.
Her stewardship at Calvary included being involved in the Sunday School Department, teaching in both the Young People and Adult Classes; Youth Fellowship; BTU; Vacation Bible School; Junior Mission; Matrons Auxiliaries and Women’s Missionary Union #2.
On Sunday, September 8, 2013, Beverly Alice Johnson Lathan departed this life to join the Heavenly Choir. She leaves to mourn her homegoing her husband of fifty-six years, Alonzo Lathan; son, Alonzo “Lonnie” Lathan and wife, Brenda; beloved sister, Gwendolyn Allen and husband, Harold “Red”; grandsons, Daviyon and Torrion Lathan; granddaughter, Amber Lathan; great-grandchildren, Daviyon Jr., Isaac, Maliyah, Dionne and Andre; favorite niece, Michelle; special nephews and a host of other family and friends to celebrate her life.
