She was born and raised in London, Ontario, Canada, the daughter of the late David and Hazel (MacPhail) Winegarden. Beverly was a graduate of Sir Adam Beck Collegiate Institute (1972). She completed graduate work in plant science at the University of Western Ontario and was a research associate in crop science at the University of Guelph. After moving to Connecticut in 1985, she worked at Hockanum Greenhouse and Connecticut National Bank in Hartford. Beverly was known and loved for her sarcastic sense of humor, her generosity, and her love of dogs, cooking, and baking. But, most of all she was admired for the strength she showed during her long struggle with multiple sclerosis. In addition to her husband Charles, of 34 years, she is survived by two brothers Gregory Winegarden (Forest, Ontario), and Edward Winegarden. She was pre-deceased by a sister, Joyce (Winegarden) Bartlett.
