Beverly Leona Bellamy, 86, of Galesburg, died at 9:53 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at Heartland Health Care, Galesburg. Beverly was born June 17, 1932 in Galesburg, the daughter of Roy Charles and Violet Berniece (Witherbee) Switzer.
She married Richard M. Humes and together they had four children, Charles (Gaylene) Humes, Cary (Cindy) Humes, and Richard (Gwen) Humes all of Galesburg, and Chrystal (Clark) Higgins of Orlando, FL. Richard preceded Beverly in death on June 6, 1968.
Beverly was a single mother to her children until she met and married Dale Bellamy on July 16, 1973 in Edwardsville. They were married for almost 45 years when he died on May 25, 2018. Beverly is also survived by twelve grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter. Along with her parents and both husbands, Beverly was preceded in death by one sister, Delores Flannigan; two grandsons, Ryan Higgins and Travis Humes; and one great grandson, Camden Humes.Beverly worked as a Foreman for OMC/Gale Products for 28 years.
When she was in her 50’s Beverly decided to return to school and graduated from Carl Sandburg College with her AAS. Beverly enjoyed being outdoors, whether it was boating on the Mississippi, tending to her plants, or feeding hummingbirds. She was also an avid swimmer and reader, loved to play pitch, watch the Golden State Warriors, and spend time on her computer.
