Beverly Charlene (Barker) Blair, our loving mother, grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully with family by her side on January 26, 2015 in Westminster, Colorado. She had lived 87 wonderful years. By Bev’s wishes and in support of life, her body was donated to Advanced Medicine through Science Care, a whole body donor program.
Born in New Raymer, Colorado on September 29, 1927, Bev was one of five children raised by loving parents, William Raymond & Rachel Evelena Barker. Growing up she was known for her incredible singing voice. She graduated Valedictorian from New Raymer High School and was awarded a scholarship to Lamont School of Music through Denver University. Bev worked for Erickson’s Memorial as a Secretary and Office Manager. After forty years of service she retired. Soon after, her Son David asked for her assistance in setting up a bookkeeping system for his company, Denver Family Therapy, where she continued working until she truly retired at the age of 85.
In 1947, at the age of 20 she was married to Robert John Blair, and the two were blessed with 64 years of marriage before his passing in 2011. Together they raised three healthy children who brought them seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. The growing Blair family was better known as “The Loud Family” and one of Bev’s favorite things in life was to be with them, laughing, singing with the original “Red Hot Chile Peppers” and sharing stories where her children often made her the center of the joke. She was known for her joy of entertaining and for being an avid reader. Bev was a die-hard Denver Nuggets, Rockies and Broncos fan. She was a caring and loving friend to many of all ages.
Survivors are sons, Gary Blair of Rock Springs, WY, David (Mary Pat) Blair of Golden CO and daughter Patricia (Gene) Kent of Rock Springs WY; grandchildren, Lynn (Mike), Lee (Melanie) and Dean Blair, Jamie (German) Echevarria, Colleen (Bill) Blair Michel, Andrew (Maggie) and Kathryn Kent; as well as nine great-grandchildren.
