Beverly “Bev” (Demko) Tihansky, 82, of Bethlehem, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 10, 2022, surrounded by her adoring family while in the care of Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia. She was the beloved wife of Eugene “Gene” Tihansky, with whom she shared over 62 years of a deeply affectionate marriage. Born in Hazelton, PA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Helen (Yevak) Demko. Bev was a graduate of Hazelton High School, went on to earn her bachelor’s in Education from Kutztown University, and later, a master’s in Education. Bev had a career that spanned more than thirty years. After her time teaching at Northeast Middle School and Governor Wolf Elementary, she spent most of her career as a 6th grade teacher at Nitschmann Middle School, where she directed numerous school plays, oversaw the school newspaper, and was a member of the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. She enjoyed people and was a faithful member of Notre Dame Catholic Church in Bethlehem and its fifty and older club.
