The pets and animals of this world, as well as her friends, will greatly miss Beverlee Ann Hale who died on September 21, 2014 at the Hospice Care Center at age 66.

Beverlee has lived in Portage Lakes all of her life. She was raised by Raymond and Mabel Ritter who predeceased her in 1984. Beverlee graduated from Coventry High School in 1966 and attended Kansas City University as an education major. She thereafter worked at Bellows Valvair in Akron, where she met a handsome young boss named Douglas Hale.  A true romance commenced and on June 8, 1974 she married Douglas, the love of her life for 37 and a half years until Doug died on Aug. 24, 2011.

And Beverlee loved and cherished, animals. In the neighborhood, Beverlee was the  “go-to” person when there was an injured bird, chipmunk or other critter. She would nurse them with care and concern. It was not unusual to see a duck or goose recuperating in a wash basin at the Hale’s.  She was active in caring for Portage Lakes water fowl and raised injured and orphaned avian for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, shoulder-to-shoulder with her husband Doug.  Beverlee loved her pets and always took care of them with great devotion.

Although Beverlee and Doug had no children, they gave actively to the neighborhood kids and loved her extended “family” — her neighbors and her friends.

Beverlee leaves her special friends:  Sue Harding who cared for her daily in her last illness, Jimmy Harding, and Lee (Harding) and Chris Browne. She leaves her long-term neighbors and friends Richard and Becky Kutuchief and family Brandis, Brett and Britny Kutuchief and long friend Grace Zawicki and Grace’s son John Robert, and other friends.   Beverlee leaves her beloved cats, Wishful and Virginia.

Special thanks are given to Paula, Devoted Companions care givers Terri, Susan, Laura, Consuela, and Sherrie; Dr. Petrus, and all of the staff at VNS Hospice Care Center for the care given her at the Center and at home this past year.
