(June 25, 1920 – July 19, 2012)

Beulah Elvertie Barnard, 92, of Brighton, Colorado, born June 25, 1920 in Webber, Kansas to Albert and Myrtle (Powers) Wilde, passed away on July 19, 2012.

Her life in Brighton started on a farm in the Tonville area. At age 12, her father passed away, and she continued to live on the farm with her mother and two sisters until the Depression, when the family moved into Brighton where her mother operated a boarding house on North 4th Avenue. She made many life-long friends while attending school in Brighton, whom she kept in touch with until her death.

After graduating from Brighton High School, she attended Colorado A&M (now Colorado State University) majoring in Home Economics with the aim of becoming a dietician. While at college, she met William H. Barnard, a student majoring in Civil Engineering. She married William (“Bill”) on May 9th of 1941, in Ft. Collins, CO, while he was on leave from the U.S. Army.
