Beulah Bretzinger, age 85, of Rensselaer, IN, passed away June 16, 2020 at the Rensselaer Care Center.
She was born on April 10, 1935 in Hancock County, TN to Guy Henry and Gladys (Surber) Montgomery. Beulah was educated in Hancock County, TN. On September 8, 1958 in Rensselaer, IN, she married Charles “Elbert” Griffin, who preceded her in death on October 10, 1972. Beulah remarried on August 23, 1980 to Clarence “Pete” Bretzinger, who passed away on November 27, 2006. She was employed as a custodian at the Rensselaer Middle School for 33 years. Beulah was a member of the First Christian Church in Rensselaer. She volunteered at the Jasper County Community Services Senior Center. She was a devoted grandmother and loved visits with her grandchildren, as well as spending time with her family. She was an avid craft show attendee and enjoyed flowers, gardening and baking.
Beulah is survived by her children, Frank Griffin of Brook, IN, Raymond Griffin of Monon, IN, Linda (Tom) McGilliard of New Castle, IN; her stepchildren, Joyce Junk of Summerville, S.C., Charles (Patricia) Griffin of Rensselaer, IN; her grandchildren, Tyler Griffin, Zachary Griffin, Madison McGilliard; several half-grandchildren, step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her siblings, Fred (Shirley) Montgomery, Clyde (Wilma) Montgomery, Judy Hammond, Carolyn Montgomery Goad, Kathleen (Jim) Cavins, Bill (Judy) Montgomery, and Barbara (Bill) Corbin.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Elbert Griffin, second husband, Pete Bretzinger, her siblings, Faye Taylor, Max Montgomery, Vicky Thorndyke, Merle Montgomery, Wilma Montgomery, step-son-in-law, Wayne Junk, and brother-in-law’s, Larry Hammond and Russell Goad.
