Mrs. Harlan died Monday, December 19, 2016, in a Temple nursing home.
She was born April 9, 1932 to Deloy Burton Logan and Annabelle (Zak) Logan in Yoakum, Texas. She grew up in Victoria, Texas and graduated from Nazareth Academy Catholic High School. Bettye attended Gulf Park College in Gulf Port, Mississippi until she married Frank Harlan on August 30, 1951. Frank was in the Air Force and they moved to Anchorage, Alaska where their daughter Ruthanna was born.
They also lived in Memphis, Tennessee before moving to Temple where their late son Logan was born. When the kids were in High School, Bettye went back to college, graduating from Mary-Hardin Baylor in 1970. She taught first and second grade in Temple for thirty plus years before retiring. Bettye enjoyed their coastal home in Rockport, Texas and the family ranch in South Texas and numerous trips to Mexico. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Bettye has lived at Arbor House since February 2010.
She is preceded in death by her parents and son Logan Harlan
Survivors include her husband Frank William Harlan; daughter, Ruthanna Harlan Bigham; sister, Nancy Hanna Baurax of Houston, TX; two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
