Betty Holland Kirkland
Betty Sue Holland Kirkland was born in Lucedale, Miss., Nov. 6, 1944 and passed away Feb. 13, 2014 at Mobile Infirmary. She was 69 years of age.
A resident of Millry, she was a member of Flat Branch Assembly of God in the Red Creek community of Millry. She enjoyed gardening, canning, making quilts and collecting angels. Betty also loved to go to Walmart every chance she got. She loved all of her family, but she really adored her great-grandchildren. Folks said, “Betty Sue” always had a smile on her face.
Services were Feb.
Survivors include her daughter, Brenda Faye Kirkland of Millry; sons, Raymond O. (Jewel) Kirkland of Laurel, Miss., and John H. (April) Kirkland of Shelby, N.C.; her sisters, Carolyn Baty of Laurel, Nancy Heathcock of Houston, Texas and Stella Mae Harig of Woodlands, Texas; grandchildren, Stephen (Jennifer) Johnson and Matthew (Autumn) Johnson, plus five others; great-grandchildren, Ashton, Laithen, Lawson, Logan, “JJ” and Jolie; and one great–great-grandchild.
Mrs. Kirkland was preceded in death by her husband, Uhbern Kirkland; and parents, Barbara B. Adams Holland and John W. Holland.
