Betty Sue Decker

Betty Sue Decker, “Grandma Bear,” was welcomed into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 27, 2016, at the home of her daughter in Kingwood surrounded by loved ones.

She was born the daughter of the late Gene Rillis and Myrtle Marie (Cayton) Curtis, on December 11, 1922, in McWhorter, WV.

Betty was a homemaker and an active member of the community of Kingwood for 66 years which included volunteering at Heartland (Pine Ridge) into her 90s.

She is survived by her four children and their spouses: Linda and Tom Feltz of Fairmont, William “B.G” and Rita Jo Decker of Shinnston, Barbara and Pastor Mike Argabrite of Kingwood, and Stephen and Terry Decker of Reedsville; 12 Grandchildren and 28 Great Grandchildren with one more grandson due in September.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Billy Dean “B.D” Decker; a grandson, Scott Argabrite; two sisters, Virginia Curtis and Mary Lou Christie; and two brothers, Gene and Rodney Curtis.

Perhaps her greatest legacy, in addition to her immediate family, will be the many lives she has touched by being everyone’s “Grandma Bear.” She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by generations of “adopted” children and grandchildren throughout the community and especially by her spiritual family at Grace Chapel where she has faithfully served and worshiped her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for the past 37 years.
