Betty S. Mertz, 90, of Williamsport, died Saturday, August 20, 2011.
Betty was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Von E. Mertz, in 1998.
Betty graduated from Williamsport High School in 1939 and the Williamsport School of Nursing in 1943, where she received the Dr. Horace G. McCormick award for proficiency as a nurse.
Born November 3, 1920 in Williamsport, she was the daughter of John and Minnie M. Haas Stahlnecker.
Surviving are a son, Michael G. Mertz of Williamsport; daughters, Devon E. Rosser of Harrisburg and Jan C. Kott of Williamsport; a brother, John (MaryAnn) Stahlnecker of Odenton, Md.; sisters, Joanne (Clifford) Dorn of Tunnel Hill, Ga. and Sally (Ted) Head of Penn Yan, N.Y.; six grandchildren and one great grandson.
