Betty Romano, 98, went to see her Lord, August 26, 2011, at United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, surrounded by her family, relatives, and close friends. Betty was born August, 15, 1913, in Clarksburg, WV, to John Arco and Catherine Congi Arco who originated from San Giovanni, Calabria, Italy. She is survived by one brother, Albert Arco, and his wife, Rosemary Clemente Arco of Clarksburg. Deceased brothers and sisters; Salvatore Arco, Samuel Arco, Joe Arco, Frank Arco, Barbara Arco Oliverio, Jimmy Arco, Rose Arco Fiorenza, Mary Arco Lopez, and Margaret Arco Mallagrin. Betty was married to Fiorino “Chico” Romano who died on January 31, 1968. She is survived by two daughters; Raffaella “Folly” Basile and her husband Thomas, and Kathleen Yeager, also of Clarksburg; four grandchildren, Tom Basile and wife, Jody, of Charleston, Clara Jean Basile of San Francisco, Mark Basile of Los Angeles, and Heather Yeager of Clarksburg; three great granddaughters, Joanna Basile of South Bend, Indiana, Emily and Sarah Basile of Charleston; many nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and great nephews. She was a lovely, generous, and kind lady who enjoyed her 98 years of life. She belonged to the Moose Club, VFW, Elks Lodge, and Harrison County Senior Center where she spent countless joyous days with friends. She professed a deep Christian faith and attended Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Clarksburg. She was a member of the original Catholic Daughters and Christian Mothers at the former Saint Johns Catholic Church. At 75, Betty found a new interest in oil painting and won a Blue Ribbon for “best of show” for one of her works.
