Betty Rogers passed away on the morning of Thursday, August 12th, 2021 at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center in Fort Pierce, Florida, at the age of 94.
She was born to her parents, the late Francis and Joseph Swabado, on July 26th, 1927 in the state of Ohio. Betty also had a brother who went MIA during WWII while flying overseas near the continent of Africa.
Betty Rogers met and married her late husband Sydney Rogers while living in Ohio. Betty and Sydney were socialites within their community. Together they opened bike shops where they sold and repaired bicycles. They shared a passion for dancing and won many awards for their skills. They taught dance lessons together for Fred Astaire during their time in Ohio.
They moved to Jensen Beach, Florida in 1979 where they spent the rest of their lives together. They were married 52 years; Betty remained a widow after the passing of her husband. Betty Rogers enjoyed socializing, playing cards, and was passionate about sewing and dancing.
Betty frequently wore clothes she made herself and could often be caught dancing if ever there was music playing. She adored animals and often provided food and shelter for any seeking it. She was a kind and loving individual who often wore a smile on her face.
Betty Rogers is survived by her three children, Barry Rogers, Lynn Scherer, and Cheryl DeLeo. She was a grandmother to Kimberly Porter, Tyna Richards, Jason DeLeo, Devin DeLeo, Angela Coben, Renee Rogers, Krystal Rogers, Brian Rogers, and Joey Stroud. Great-Grandmother to Ashley price, Trevis Porter, Lillian Richards, Abbigail Richards, Kristian Richards, Kellen Coben, Ellie Coben, Gianna DeLeo, Jenessa DeLeo, Charlotte Stroud, and Alexis Stroud. She was also blessed to be the Great-Great-Grandmother to Japheth Price, Sophia Price, and Josiah Texidor.
Betty will live on in the fond and cherished memories of her friends and family. They will remember her as a mother, as a grandmother, and as the elegant woman she was. Betty Rogers will always be loved and adored by those who knew her.
