Betty MacKenzie, 86, of Galien, Michigan died Monday morning, March 2, 2009 at the Vineyards Adult Foster Care in Galien where she made her home and was lovingly cared for the past 5 years. Betty was born March 19, 1922 in Three Oaks, Michigan to George and Jennie (Martin) Grosse. She graduated from Three Oaks High School in 1939 and married Jack MacKenzie, Sr. on April 26, 1947. Jack preceded her in death on April 27, 2002. Betty was employed as a secretary for many years and enjoyed caring for her home and family.
She wintered in Florida and loved to fish, go camping, garden, and complete craft projects. Betty was an accomplished seamstress who created beautiful wedding dresses for her family.Survivors include her children; Norma (Ron) Petersen of Michigan City, Indiana, Jack (Vicki) MacKenzie Jr., of Michigan City; and Michele (Gary) Lozmack of Galien; grandchildren, Ann, Erika, Aaron, Scott, Jill and Beth; great grandchildren Kaleb, Leah, Lucas, Carter, Ella, and a new great granddaughter who will be born on Friday. Betty was preceded in death by her grandson Ryan; sisters, Jean Carroll, Louise O’Leary and Barbara Rudolph, and brothers George, Richard, Herbert, Mark and Robert Grosse.
