Betty M. Wells passed away June 29, 2022. She was born January 10, 1929, in Kalamazoo, MI, the daughter of Joe and Eveline (Jones) Wells. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Bonnie L. Wells, and brothers-in-law, Doyle Lehman and Forest Carroll.
Betty was a life-long resident of this area. She was a Charter Member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, where she was very active. She retired from Pharmacia, now known as Pfizer. She was a member of the Kalamazoo Area Womens’s Bowling Association and was also inducted into the K.A.W.B.A. Hall of Fame for Meritorious Service in 1994. Betty volunteered for Loaves and Fishes and Meals on Wheels, which brought her joy. She enjoyed being with her friends and family, and could often be found at concerts, plays, and going out to dinner.
Betty was an avid traveler, visiting the 50 United States, Canada, England, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, and Thailand. She was even in Cuba and got out in the morning just before the Communist Revolution came into town. She took 5 cruises, including giving her nieces the time of their lives on a Mediterranean cruise, where they enjoyed the history and culture of Venice, Capri, Rome, Florence, Pompeii, Vatican City, Dubrovnik (Croatia), Athens, Santorini, Monaco, and Nice (France).
Surviving are her sister, Dixie Carroll of Del City, OK; 2 nieces, Candi (Gary) Dunham of Otsego, MI, Karen (Steward) Klaus of Mancelona, MI; 1 nephew, Rodney (Nittaya) Lehman of Otsego, MI; 8 great-nieces and great-nephews, Shannon (Scott) Goodwin, Sheilah (Jeremy) Springston, Keith (Wendy) Dunham, Morgan Goff, Bynum Goff, Samantha (Michael) Hamilton, Myles Lehman, and Kaon Lehman; 3 great-great-nieces: Alexandra Goodwin, Brianna Springston, and Myla Lehman; 6 great-great-nephews, Andrew Goodwin, Benjamin Goodwin, Cameron Springston, Isaiah Lehman, Nate Lehman, Oliver Hamilton, Turan Pektunus, and Atesh Pektunus.
