On April 27, 2016, Betty Louise Kubler passed away peacefully into the hands of the Lord. She was born Dec. 18, 1920 in Muncie, IN to John and Louise Whitson. She is survived by her sister Margaret Krug of Vero Beach, FL; son Charles Kubler, Jr. (wife Sharon) of Fallbrook, CA; son John Kubler (wife Sandra) of Brandon, FL; daughter Barbara Shearer (husband Don) of Rio Rancho, NM; along with nine grandchildren, Julie Staggs, Kristy Bassett, Melanie McRae, Jonathan Kubler, Chip Sargent, Rebecca Sargent, Casey Shearer, Mike Kubler and Andrea Kubler; and 16 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was married in 1941 to Lt. Col. Charles A. Kubler, an Air Force pilot for 27 years. Charlie and Betty were married for 68 years. Charlie flew many types of aircraft-his favorite being the B-52 Stratofortress. Betty was preceded in death by her mother and father, three siblings, husband Charlie, and son R. Michael Kubler.
Charlie and Betty moved to Kirtland AFB in Albuquerque in 1952. Charlie served for 10 years in the Marshall Islands testing the hydrogen bomb. Betty worked for the City of Albuquerque for 12 years as an administrative assistant. After Charlie’s death in 2009, Betty moved to Paloma Landing Retirement Community. She loved all people, never met a stranger, and became a new-resident ambassador to assist those moving to Paloma Landing. She loved sewing and made over 100 hand-sewn quilts. She was an excellent bridge player, was a member of the Professional Lady’s Bass Master Tournament, and enjoyed gold panning with Charlie. Anyone who met Betty experienced her warm kindness, compassion and interest in all people. They would instantly recognize that Betty was undoubtedly an angel walking upon this earth.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Betty’s Presbyterian Hospice team and to the caregivers at Beehive Home, Enchanted Hills, for the loving care they provided to her.
