Betty Louise Harris, age 87, of South Charleston, formerly of Clarksburg, died on Tuesday, July 3, 2012, in the presence of her daughter and the support of staff at the Hospice House in South Charleston WV following a lengthy illness. She was born July 22, 1924 in Clarksburg, daughter of the late Ben and Ella Maxwell Kyle. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband Richard “Dick” Messinger and her second husband, Charles Renny Harris, her brother Arnold Kyle and his wife, “Toots,” her sisters, Lenora Williams, and her husband George, Gladys Parrill, and her husband Joe, Helen Copenhaver, and her husband’s Cleo Layfield and Jim Copenhaver, her nieces Brenda Jo Parrill and Marianna Layfield, and her nephew Dale Cunningham. She is survived by her three sons and their wives, Rick and Karen Messinger of Elkview, John and Jill Messinger of South Charleston, Charles and Lisa Harris of Charlotte, NC and her daughter, Kelly Harris of Scottsdale, AZ. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren, along with several beloved nieces and nephews. Betty will be remembered by family and friends as a loving and inspirational presence that fulfilled her life’s dream of being a mother.
