Betty Lou Movick Thompson, daughter of Irwin Elenore Movic and Nelle Marjorie Crane Movick, was born July 22, 1934 in Ottosen, Iowa. Betty was raised in Ottosen and graduated from the Ottosen Consolidated School in 1952.
She then went to work at Northwestern Bell Telephone office in Humboldt. Betty married Howard Arthur Thompson March 11, 1955 at the Methodist Church in LuVerne, Iowa. To that union four children were born: Holly Kay, December 11, 1955, Cindy Lou, March 25, 1957, Harlan Arthur, August 1, 1959 and Blaine Alden, March 30, 1966. Betty farmed with Howard south of Ottosen most of their married lives. She also cooked at the schools and worked with Doc Thompson in the vet’s office. She was baptized, confirmed and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Ottosen.
Survivors include her husband, Howard, Ottosen, IA, daughter Holly Thompson of Ogden, IA, sons, Harlan (Anita) and Blaine (Melanie) both of Ottosen, IA, six grandchildren, John and Christopher Thompson, Ian and Haley Meister, Cody and Kaylee Thompson, four great grandchildren and her sister Eleanor (Bill) Mann of Denver, Colorado.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter Cindy. On March 11, 2008 the couple would have been married fifty three years.
