Betty Lou (Spain) Springer, 86, of Newton died on Sunday, February 27, 2022, at Accura Health Care of Newton East.
Betty, the daughter of Marion Pearson and Inez Vera (Wilson) Spain, was born on June 9, 1935, in Reasnor, Iowa. She graduated from Newton High School in 1953. On May 9, 1953, Betty was united in marriage with Floyd Springer in Reansor. They made their home in Reasnor for a short time before moving to Newton. Betty worked at various places doing bookkeeping and accounting.
Betty is survived by her children, Randy (Allyson) Springer of Newton, Vicki (John) Hock of Altoona, Dan (Kelli) Springer of Riverside, and Curt (Kim) Springer, of Newton; 13 grandchildren, Josie (Scott) Koopmans, Brian (Jenny) Springer, Reed Shepard, Stacy Sutton (Ron), Tina (Rob) Spurgeon, Kendra (Bryce) Gretten, Katie Springer (Lexi), Mindy (Jon) Hanson, Josh (Lyndsey) Good, Jami Gander (Barron), Samy Springer, Adri Daniels, and Dameon Herrod; 20 great-grandchildren and one more on the way; her brother, Jim Spain of Newton; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; step-mother, Ethel Spain; husband, Floyd Springer; daughter-in-law, Gloria Springer; granddaughter, Angie Hock; brothers, Bob (Colleen) Spain, Dale (Patty) Spain, and Earl Spain in infancy; sisters, Ruth (Joe) Partelow, Doris (Darrell) Van Baale, Wanda (Ray) DeMoss, and Leona (Joe) Neal; step-sister, Lyla (Ray) Williams; and sister-in-law, Judy Spain.
