Betty Lou Bohrer the daughter of Calvin and Gwida (Pfost) Ruberson was born April 16, 1933 at Phillipsburg, Kansas. She departed this life on Monday, November 28, 2016 at Perkins Pavilion in Hastings, Nebraska at the age of 83 years 7 months and 12 days.
Betty graduated from Riverton High School with the class of 1951 as the valedictorian. On March 2, 1952 Betty was united in marriage to Robert Edward Bohrer at Red Cloud, Nebraska. Following Bob’s discharge from the United Army in 1955 Bob and Betty farmed for a year, before Bob began his career with the ASCS office. To this union two children were born: Lori and Robert. Betty worked for many years as the Webster County Clerk and later on worked at Peterson Oil and Herberger’s as Office Manager for both businesses. Betty also did work for the Willa Cather Foundation.
Betty was a long time member of the Red Cloud United Methodist Church, DAR and the American Legion Auxiliary. Betty was an original “soccer mom”, Betty was the mother who sponsored the junior high cheerleaders, who took carloads of kids to the skating ring on Wednesday nights, and accompanied the kids on their field trips. Betty always felt her greatest accomplishment in life was her children, grandchildren and being a good mother and grandmother.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Bob on February 14, 1999, brother Jim Ruberson, sister Norma (Skeet) Kennedy, infant brother Kenneth Ruberson, and brother-in-law Don Kennedy.
Survivors include her daughter Lori Hartman and significant other Derrick Hoagland of Hastings, NE; son Dr. Robert (Rob) Bohrer and wife Sandy of Mechanicsburg, PA; sister Bonnie Monie and husband Ernie of Franklin, NE; sister-in-law Joyce Ruberson of Hastings, NE; grandchildren: Ryan Kelly and wife Ashlee and their daughter Breslynn of Mechanicsburg, PA; Kaitlin Silver and husband Jason and their daughter Haylie of Hastings, NE; Grace Hartman of Hastings, NE; Jenna Bohrer and Heath Bohrer both of Mechanicsburg, PA; nieces, nephews other relatives and a host of friends.
