September 16, 1934 – January 12, 2018
Betty Roper joined her husband in heaven on January 12, 2018, leaving the continued battle of the illnesses she endured almost daily behind. She will be missed by the family and friends she had made. Betty Lou (Truman) Roper was born in Hobart, Oklahoma on September 16, 1934. Her parents were Floyd Daniel Truman and Jewell Hattie (Roach) Truman. Betty was the oldest child, having two sisters: Barbara Sue (Truman) Stewart and Thelma Kay (Truman) Collard, both still living; and one brother Donald Ray Truman, who preceded Betty in passing. Betty was the wife of Gus Edmond Roper, who preceded her in passing on July 2, 2013. Betty and Gus were married in Eunice New Mexico on July 7, 1952. Betty spent most of her life serving others in the restaurant business working as a waitress for many years, before Betty and Gus ventured out to own a restaurant for many years before retiring. Most of their retired years were spent in Tow, Texas. As they both grew older they moved closer to one on the boys at Horseshoe Bay, Texas. Betty and Gus were the parents of two boys; Randal Edmond Roper and David Wayne Roper, both living. Betty was the grandmother to Rebecca, Jonathan, Sarah, and Jarrett; and a great-grandmother to Kayden, Kaitlyn, Haley, and Kai.
