On November 12th, 2016 after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer ‘s disease, Betty Lou Cunningham, 88, was reunited with her husband and joined her Lord and Savior in heaven.
Betty was born December 3, 1927 in Fort Wayne, IN. She was the loving wife of William (Bill) R. Cunningham who preceded her in death in 2006, and the daughter of the late Alona Stevens Sowers and William Sowers. Betty was a devoted wife and mother who raised four children. Betty never lacked energy, never met a stranger and was never without a smile. For the decade plus years of her battle, one constant was her sweet temperament, loving smile and sparkle. The disease may have robbed her of her memory but her sweet disposition stayed with her until the very end.
Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Bill Cunningham and her great-granddaughter, Caitlin Anne Lefkowitz. She is survived by her four children, Karen Cunningham Berk (Gary) of Portland, CT; Greg Cunningham (Denise) of Allentown, PA; Kirk Cunningham (Davene) of Bethlehem; and Lynn Cunningham Peacock (Kevin) of Minnesott Beach, NC. She leaves a beautiful legacy of seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. She will be truly missed by all.
