Betty Lou Nuyen, age 86, of Kalamazoo passed away August 4, 2022 at her home. She was born January 22, 1936 in Kalamazoo to the late Spencer “Jack” and Flora (Carlon) Bixler.
Betty’s joy in life came from raising her four children, as well as spending time with her grandkids and great-grandchildren—she was the glue of her family. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, and knitting and was known to be a great baker with a great sense of humor. She also loved trips to the lake. Betty was a longtime member of Victory Baptist Church—her relationship with God was very important to her.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 50 years, William D. Nuyen; two infant sons; and siblings, Harriet Bixler, Jack Bixler, and Theodore Bixler.
She is survived by her children, Vicki Nuyen, Cindi (Lou) Craighead, Terri Nuyen, and Ted (Shelly) Nuyen; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; as well as a niece and a nephew.
