Betty Lorraine Tubbs, 92, of Traverse City, Michigan passed away Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at Orchard Creek Senior Living.

Betty was born on December 29, 1928 in Wood County, WI to the late Edward and Blanche (Strope) Christensen.  She married the late Leroy Alfred Tubbs on July 31, 1948 in Pittsville, WI.

Betty was a devoted homemaker for many years raising her four wonderful children; Jerry, Susan, Linda and Patricia.  After they left the home she went on to be a cook in the Wisconsin Rapids Public School System and eventually retired as the Head Cook at Lincoln High School.  She loved to be in charge and help things run smoothly.  She enjoyed volunteering even in her later years at the different facilities in which she lived.

In her spare time she enjoyed cooking for all, baking dozens of cookies to share, crocheting, and making pot holders and afghans.

Betty will fondly be remembered as “one of everyone’s favorite people to be around” and for her legendary pineapple-upside down cakes.  She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and staff and residents at Orchard Creek.

Betty is survived by her children, Jerry (Ophelia) Tubbs, of Overland Park, KS, Susan (David) Cook of The Villages, FL, Linda (Ken) Smagacz of Traverse City, MI, and Patricia (Gary) Polum of Apple Valley, MN; grandchildren, Brian Tubbs, Laura (Steven) Mullin, Jason (Grace Kim) Cook, Andy (Jory) Cook, Joshua (Andrea) Trzinski, Matt Polum,  Jack-Lorraine Polum; great-grandchildren, Madeleine, Winston and Maxwell; her sisters, Evelyn Horn, and Carol (Allan) Michalik and many other loving family members and friends.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents, husband Leroy, and her brother Jim Christensen.
