Betty L. Stroup, 92, of Williamsport, passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at Roseview Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther T. Stroup, Sr. on May 20, 2004.
Born February 17, 1928 in Williamsport she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Mary (Ellis) Fischer.
Betty earned an Associate’s degree from Dickinson Junior College but her greatest accomplishment in life was raising her children and making her house a home. She was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church and volunteered for many years at the Williamsport Hospital. She enjoyed bowling in the women’s league at Faxon Lanes, singing in the choir at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, and was a Girl Scout leader.
Surviving are two children, Charisse Blumberg of Forest Hill, Maryland and Luther “Luke” Stroup, Jr. (Amy) of Williamsport; six grandchildren, Loni Stroup, Brandon Stroup, Matthew Stroup, Adelyn Hall, Christopher Stroup, Ryan Blumberg; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Cheryl Showalter (William) of Niceville, FL; two nephews, Jason and Eric Cole; one niece, Karol Combs; a cousin, Paul “Butchie” Schweikle; a former daughter-in-law, Shirley “Bunny” Alberts and former son-in law Karl Kitchen.
In addition to her parents and husband Betty was preceded in death by a sister, Kathleen Cole; a son-in-law Daniel Blumberg; twin grandsons, Justin and Shannon Stroup; and a nephew, Clifford Cole.
