Betty L. Brown, age 65, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away peacefully at home on March 24, 2010.
Betty was born at home on May 2, 1944, in Auburn, Michigan to the late John W. and Lydia (Kaiser) Horschig. She graduated from T L Handy High School in Bay City, Michigan. On May 18, 1963, she married P. Douglas Brown at Zion Lutheran Church in Auburn, Michigan. Betty was employed with the Dow Corning Corporation, retiring from the Benefits Department in May 2002. A member of Zion Lutheran Church, in Auburn, Betty enjoyed singing in both her church choir and the MCFTA Chorale. Betty enjoyed dancing, baking, gardening, and crossword puzzles, but her greatest joy was her family. She dearly loved playing with her grandchildren and always made it a priority to attend their sporting events and school performances. She was very proud of her children and grandchildren and thoroughly enjoyed each moment she spent with them. She was a beautiful person, inside & out, and will be dearly missed.
Betty is survived by her husband, P. Douglas Brown of Midland; two sons, Brian (Kathy) Brown of Midland and Darin (Jennifer) Brown of Northville; one daughter, Julie (Matthew) O’Connor of Midland; three grandchildren, Ethan and Emma Brown of Midland and Hayden Brown of Northville; sister Florence (Dale) Walter and brother John (Deborah) Horschig both of Midland; Brother-in-law John Precht, Artesia, CA; sisters-in-law Gwyn Stolarczyk, Midland and Janet Federer, Kissimmee FL. Betty is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and her forever friend, Nancy Fritz. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Nancy, and her brother, Ernest.
Don’t cut any flowers for me, plant them. Don’t think of me as lifeless but as living with greater fullness. Let me remain in the memory of good times together. Cry if you must, but laugh as well. I shall visit you as the butterfly and partake in the laughter of your friends. My leaving is only temporary we shall be together again.
