Mrs. Betty Joyce Gamble Darby was born March 15, 1943 to the parents of the late Fannie Bell Dark Gamble and James G. Gamble in Sylacauga, Alabama.
Affectionally known as Joyce, at an early age, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at Union Baptist Church, where she served faithfully as President of the Kitchen Committee for many years..
Joyce graduated from J.D. Thompson High School in Cottage Grove, Alabama in 1963. Joyce worked for the Sylacauga City School System for many years working in
the lunchroom. She retired in April, 2007.
Joyce meet and married her true love, the late Henry A.Darby Sr. on September 17, 1966. To this union, they were blessed with a son, the late Henry A. Darby Jr.
fondly known as (Pee Wee).
Also preceding her in death, great-grandson, Kannon Alexander Johnson; sisters: Mrs. Rosia Jane G. Ford, Nora Mae G. Smith, both of Sylacauga, AL brothers: Doug Gamble, Alfonza Gamble, Frank J Gamble, all of Sylacauga, AL, James Gamble II, of Oakland, CA.
Joyce left her earthly home for her heavenly home on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at Coosa Valley Medical Center, Sylacauga, AL.
Joyce leaves to cherish her memories: daughter,Rebecca Ann Swain, of Dayton OH, granddaughters: Shanna Marie (Omar) Montgomery and Takaylin Aaliyah Nix, great-granddaughter, Skyelyn Alayah Nix, all of Sylacauga, AL, brother, Charlie (Mae) Gamble of Sylacauga, AL, Sister-in-laws: Lillian (James) Young, Betty Darby, Trudy Darby, Jeanette Darby, and Renetta (James) Teague; brother in laws: Neal (Ruby) Darby Jr,; Larry (Peggy) Darby, Barry (Donna) Darby and Michael (Carter) Darby, best friend, Ms. Jacqueline Powell, of Sylacauga, AL., nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
