Betty Joan McCoy, 75, of Alexis, died at 10:40 p.m. Tuesday, February 24, 2015, in the Care Center of Abingdon, Abingdon, IL. Betty was born September 4, 1939, at home in Elba Twp., rural Knox County, IL, the daughter of Clarence William and Lena Floell Hunter Emerick.
She married Donald Gene McCoy on January 1, 1957, in Lancaster, MO. They were married for over 57 years.
Don preceded her in death on April 16, 2014. Betty is survived by two sons, Donald (Lisa) McCoy, Jr. of Abingdon and Ron (Kimberley) McCoy of Germantown Hills; one daughter, Brenda (Wes) Lovdahl of Monmouth; seven grandchildren, Stephen McCoy, Christina (Jeremy) Rowden, Andrew (Danielle) McCoy, Sara McCoy, Preston, Drew, and Alex Lovdahl; and three great-grandchildren, Shealyn, Lochlan, and Aiden Rowden.
She is also survived by two brothers, John R. (Carol) Emerick of Abingdon and James A. Emerick of Pana; and three sisters, Mary (James) Riley of Ziegler, Martha Haugen of Minneapolis, MN, and Judy (Herman) Cordle of Galesburg.
Along with her husband, Betty was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Clarella Emerick, and a brother-in-law, Gwynne Haugen. Betty was a homemaker and enjoyed quilting, collecting dolls, and antiques. She loved to be with her family, especially her grandchildren, and support all their activities.
