Betty Jo Garber Keller, 79, of Caldwell, Idaho, passed away on May 14, 2010.

Betty Jo was born in Caldwell, Idaho on March 25, 1931 to Joe R. and Laura C. Garber.  She attended grade school and high school in Caldwell and graduated from Caldwell High School in 1949.  After graduating high school she attended the University of Idaho and was a proud member of the Delta Gamma Sorority.  While living in Moscow, Idaho she worked for the Dean of the College of Letters and Science and later worked for the Navy ROTC.

After living in several different areas, Betty Jo settled in Caldwell to be near her family and to raise her three children.  Her father passed away in 1970 and for the next 25 years her mother remained close and was actively involved in raising her three children.  In reference to her mother Betty Jo wrote, “My mother was my strength.  She was always there for me and for the kids.”  In 1970 she enrolled in the Medical Secretary Class and later worked at the Caldwell Hospital and a local doctor’s office.  In 1974, she received a call from the Mayor, Bob Pasley, who asked that she come to work as the City Clerk for the City of Caldwell where she remained until retirement in 2003.  During the years at the City, she worked for six different Mayors and was also the “Employee of the Year” for the City in 1988.  Betty Jo received the Distinguished Alumni Award from the Caldwell High School in 1999 and the “Women Helping Women Award” from Soroptimist International in Caldwell.  She was a member of the Caldwell Historical Commission and for a short time was a member of the D.A.R.E Board and served as their secretary.  She also served on the Friends of the Depot Board.  She was a life long member of the L.D.S.

The most important thing in her life was her family.  She was very proud of her children and their accomplishments.  Betty Jo vowed that she would do all that should could for her mother and her children and her life has certainly been a reflection of that commitment.  She was a devoted and loving daughter, mother, grandmother and sister.

Betty Jo is survived by her brother, Sid Garber (Alana) of Boise; her children, Jeff Keller (Janel) of Nampa, Laura Moylan (Brent) of Caldwell, and Jay Keller (Andrea) of Rigby; and her grandchildren, Ricky, Christina and Michelle Keller, Sophie Moylan, and Joshua, Kaleb and Makayla Keller.
