Betty Jean Smith, 64, of Decatur, Alabama, passed away Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. Mrs. Smith was born in Decatur, Alabama on July 30, 1952 to the late James Evans and Edna Birdsong Evans.
She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church. She was a retired RN from North Alabama Regional Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jimmy Fletcher and sister, Faye Shackleford.
She is survived by her husband, Alton Smith and five children, one step-son, Mark Evans, Sabrina Evans, Mario Evans, Ceric Evans (Tonya), Erica Powell (Orlando), Miquez Smith; also 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; eight siblings, Mary Durr of Decatur, AL, Wilma Emerson of Huntsville, AL, Nancy Stover of Decatur, AL, Kaye Fletcher of Decatur, AL, James Baker (Rachel) of Decatur, AL, June Buford of Houston, TX, Shirley Mayes of Courtland, AL and Vicky Love (Allen) of Atlanta, GA.
