Betty Jean Robinson Hawthorne, affectionately known as “Aunty Betty” was born November 26, 1941 to the late Joseph and Teresa Pearson in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She departed this life on August 13, 2015 at Decatur Morgan Hospital-Parkway Campus.
She graduated from Saint Francis Xavier Catholic High School and later attended Louisiana Technical University in Ruston, Louisiana.
After courting for two years, Betty was joined in Holy Matrimony to Joe Hawthorne in 1973.
Betty had a loving and caring personality. She loved everyone and would embrace anyone she made contact with. Aunt Betty was known for saying “Yes indeed baby.” She had a passion for reading books and also enjoyed hosting, cooking and catering for her friends and family.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; son, Joseph Gossenard; and sister, Mary Ann Roberts.
Betty is survived by: her husband, Joe Hawthorne of Decatur, AL; two sons, Michael Gossenard Jr. of Baton Rouge, LA and James Hawthorne of Decatur, AL; one daughter, Gilselle Lee of Baton Rouge, LA; grandson, Denzel Lee and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
