Betty Jean Gilmore Orebaugh, 83, Anderson, died November 18, 2005 at St. Johns Health System, Anderson Indiana due to complications from surgery.
She was born June 2, 1922 in Anderson, Indiana, and was a lifelong Anderson resident. She graduated from Anderson High School with the class of 1940. Following graduation, she was employed by Bell Telephone; Pierce-Governor, a local answering service; and Countryside Nursing Home.
She was a long-time member of Whetstone United Church of Christ. She was an avid reader, enjoyed cooking and gardening, and loved traveling. More importantly, she loved being a grandma to her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Evert Orebaugh. Also surviving is her son, William Orebaugh of Colorado; her daughter, Rebecca and husband Roger Jacobs of Pendleton; son, Robert and wife Nancy Orebaugh of Anderson; a sister, Martha Mottweiler of Greenwood; and a brother, Winston Gilmore of Florida. Grandchildren surviving her are Rodney and wife Patty Jacobs, Ryan and wife Lorri Jacobs, Molly and husband Eric Dodge, Katie and husband Josh Hackney, Brent and wife Libby Orebaugh, and Julia Orebaugh. Great grandchildren surviving her are Joseph Jacobs, Daniel Jacobs, Gabriel Jacobs, Abigail Jacobs, Adriane Orebaugh and Eli Dodge.
She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Wayne and Eva Myer Gilmore; six brothers; and two sisters.
