Betty Jean Lantzy, 83, of Arvada, Colorado, passed away peacefully March 20, 2021. She was born February 14, 1938 in Sharon, Kansas to Albert and Mary Gillen Ricke.

In 1952, at the young age of 14, Betty entered the Immaculate Conception Convent in Great Bend, Kansas where she became Sister Mary Grace. She remained at the Convent until 1975. Betty met Tom Lantzy and they were married on May 15, 1976.

Betty’s career, that she loved, was teaching elementary school for many years. She received the National Distinguished Catholic Teacher Award in 2003. She loved children, teaching, family and nature. She also loved cheering on the Denver Broncos and was a huge fan of John Elway.

She is loved and will be missed by many.

Betty is the wife of Thomas E. Lantzy; mother of Philip (Loretta) Lantzy, Kevin Lantzy and James “Tom” (Karina) Lantzy; Grandmother to Ryan, Kyle, Cara, Zach and Charice; and great-grandmother to seven. She is a sister to: JoAnn Rinke (Charles), Phyllis Davis (Harold, dec.), Delmar Ricke (Beverly), Carolyn Hrencher, dec. (Clarence, dec.), Ruth Blick (Vic, dec.), Kenneth Ricke (Karol, dec.), Lou Ricke (Nancy), Steve Ricke, Kathleen Hart (Joe), Ron Ricke (Sheila), Tom Ricke, dec. (Theresa), Randy Ricke (Jeanette), Jan Feld (Neil), Dorene Reeves, Jerry Ricke, dec. (Carol); also 44 precious nieces and nephews; and many precious great nieces and nephews.
