Betty Jean Frederick, 83, of Bethlehem passed away on Thursday, March 1, 2012 at home. She was the loving wife of Raymond W. Frederick. They celebrated their 60th anniversary last October.
Born in Bethlehem, she was the daughter of the late Warren S. and Leanna (Bender) Furry.
She was a State Registrar for the Fountain Hill area for 35 years. Previously, she was a registered nurse at St. Luke’s Hospital after graduating from St. Luke’s School of Nursing in 1949.
Betty was an active member of Christ United Church of Christ, Bethlehem where she served on the Choir and taught Sunday School for 30 years. She loved music and sports, playing softball for the Bomberettes in the late 1940’s.
Surviving with her husband, daughters, Sandra J. Casella, husband Joseph of Bethlehem; Susan D. Walls, husband C. Mark of Spencer, NY; Nancy L. McCluskey, husband Raymond of Kunkletown; sons, Dr. James Frederick, wife Edvige Barrie of Clinton, NY; Thomas A. Frederick, wife Kathy of Newville, PA; 8 grandchildren; sister, Dorothy M. Baechle of Bethlehem.
